Samsung CLT-406S toner not recognised
Check the right colour, cartridge seating and the chip’s contact.
1 min readCLT-406S is a colour-toner family. An Install Toner or Not Compatible message after replacement calls for a fit and chip check, not a Brother-style counter reset.
Check the cartridge that is flagged
- Switch the printer off and unplug it. Remove the indicated toner using its handle. Check the code and colour against its slot and the local printer listing.
- Remove only the packing protection identified in the installation leaflet. Check that the small exposed chip is present and undamaged.
- Gently wipe the gold-coloured cartridge contact with a dry lint-free cloth. Do not use liquid, sandpaper or metal tools, and do not bend the printer’s contact.
- Refit the cartridge fully, close the cover, reconnect power and test. If you kept the previous cartridge, check whether the printer recognises that one.
