Brother Toner Low, Replace Toner or faint pages?
Choose the right next step for an early warning, poor output or a warning after fitting new toner.
2 min readA warning, a pale print and a warning that remains after fitting new toner need different next steps. Start with the exact message instead of resetting every counter.
Which situation matches?
- Toner Low / Prepare New Toner Cartridge: on Brother models such as MFC-L2700DW, you can keep using the cartridge while prints remain acceptable. Have the correct replacement ready.
- Replace Toner: check the indicated toner, rather than replacing the separate drum. On color models, BK is black, C cyan, M magenta and Y yellow.
- Faint pages without a toner warning: print a built-in test page and check Toner Save and paper settings. A life-counter reset does not diagnose the cause.
- The warning remains after new toner: make sure you replaced toner, fitted a new unused cartridge, retained the drum carrier and locked both together. A used cartridge moved from another printer can report its status incorrectly.
A reset cannot replenish an empty cartridge or restore worn parts. Keep a sample of the faint output so we can help distinguish supply, paper and printer faults.
