Brother HL-L2340DW: replace a drum and clear “Replace Drum”

This guide is for the HL-L2340DW. Its toner cartridge and drum are separate parts. Confirm the local drum number before starting and keep the toner if it is still usable.
Fit the new drum
- With the printer on, open the front cover and remove the toner-and-drum assembly.
- Press the drum’s lock lever to release the toner. Unpack the new drum and avoid touching its exposed surface.
- Insert the toner firmly into the new drum until it locks. Reinstall the combined assembly.
Reset after installing a new drum
- Keep the printer on and the front cover open.
- Hold OK for about two seconds until “Drum Unit” appears, then press OK.
- Press the up-arrow button to select “Reset”, then close the front cover.
For a stripe after handling this assembly, follow Brother’s corona-wire cleaning procedure and return the green tab to its marked home position. Contact us if the warning remains.
