Brother MFC-J480DW: align blurry or doubled text

Use the alignment sheet when the nozzle-check lines are present but text looks crooked.

Alignment and head cleaning address different symptoms. Check missing colours first; an alignment sheet with missing ink cannot give a reliable result.

Print and read the alignment sheet

  1. Load plain paper and press Settings.
  2. Choose Ink/Maintenance → Impr. PrintQuality → Alignment, pressing OK for each selection.
  3. Press OK, then Mono Start or Colour Start to print the sheet.
  4. For pattern A, choose the number from 1–9 with the fewest visible vertical stripes and press OK.
  5. Repeat for the remaining patterns, then press Stop/Exit.
