Toner & drum help

Toner, drum, belt or waste-toner warning?

Identify the supply named in the message before buying or resetting anything.

1 min read

Read the whole warning, including the colour and part name. These supplies do different jobs; replacing toner does not automatically replace the other parts.

  • Toner supplies the powder that makes the print. Low toner is a preparation warning; Replace Toner means the cartridge has reached its replacement condition.
  • A drum, photoconductor or imaging kit forms the image. It can be separate from toner; use its own part number and replacement instructions.
  • A transfer belt or transfer kit moves the image through the paper path. A fuser fixes toner to paper with heat; it is not a toner cartridge.
  • A waste-toner box collects unused toner. A full box needs the correct replacement, not more toner or a toner-counter reset.
