Epson XP-440: replace 288XL ink cartridges

Use the replacement menu, seat the new cartridge fully and let ink charging finish.

This guide is for XP-440 with the local 288/288XL supplies. Have the correct replacement ready before taking out the old cartridge.

Fit the replacement

Keep the printer on. At the empty-ink prompt, press OK → Replace now. To replace early, choose Setup → Maintenance → Ink Cartridge Replacement → OK and follow the prompt.
Prepare the new cartridge according to its own pack. Remove only the marked shipping tape; do not peel other labels or the outlet seal.
Lift the scanner unit with the document cover closed. Do not move the head by hand or touch the flat white cable.
Squeeze the old cartridge’s tab and lift it straight out. Place the new cartridge in the correct color slot and press down until it clicks.
Lower the scanner unit and press Start when prompted. Wait for the completion message; leave the power on while the light flashes.
