Before you install a new toner cartridge
Check shipping protection, seating and whether the cartridge needs your existing drum.
1 min readCheck the exact cartridge and printer model first. Follow the supplied instructions for any protective cover or sealing strip; compatible cartridges may use different shipping protection from the original supply.
Installation checks
- Use the access procedure in the printer’s manual. Recently used laser printers can have hot internal parts.
- Remove only the marked shipping protection. Handle the plastic body and keep away from the drum surface and electrical contacts.
- If your printer has a separate drum, keep it when replacing toner. Lock the new toner into that drum before reinstalling the assembly.
- Match the colour position on colour printers, slide the supply into place and close the cover completely.
