HP M402 / M426: run a cleaning page for spots or streaks

A cleaning page can remove loose toner and paper dust from the print path when an HP M402 or M426 produces spots, streaks or smears. First try fresh laser paper and make the driver’s paper type match the paper.
M402: button panel
- Load plain A4 or Letter paper. Press OK, open Service, then choose Cleaning Page.
- Follow any paper prompt and press OK to start. Wait until cleaning has finished, then discard the sheet.
M426: touchscreen
- From Home, touch Setup, then Service → Cleaning Page.
- Follow the plain-paper prompt. Leave the printer powered on until the cleaning cycle finishes, then discard its sheet.
