Brother corona-wire cleaning: Drum! messages and vertical stripes
Clean the green-tab wire and return the tab home on the listed mono and colour printers.

A Brother Drum! message or a vertical stripe can call for corona-wire cleaning. The green sliding tab is the cleaner; its final position matters as much as moving it.
Mono front-cover models
- For MFC-L2700DW, open the front cover and remove the combined toner and drum assembly onto disposable paper.
- Without separating the toner, move the drum’s green sliding tab gently from side to side several times.
- Return it to the marked home position: align the tab arrow with the arrow on the drum. Refit the assembly and close the front cover.
Colour top-cover models
- For HL-L3230CDW or HL-L3270CDW, lift the top cover and wait for hot parts to cool. Remove the colour toner/drum assemblies.
- Move each drum’s green tab back and forth. Return every tab to its home arrow.
- Put the assemblies back in their matching colour slots and close the top cover.
If the message or stripe remains, send us the model and a sample page. Follow your model’s own manual for other Brother designs; do not scrub the wire or reach into a hot fuser.
