Brother No Toner: check the assembly
Reseat the toner inside its drum carrier and check compatibility before treating it as a life-counter warning.
1 min readOn the listed Brother colour printers, No Toner points first to the cartridge or its installation. It is different from an ordinary Replace Toner life warning.
Check the toner inside its drum
- Record the complete message and any colour code. Check the toner label against your exact printer and the country it was sold in.
- Following the model’s access instructions, remove the toner/drum assembly. Let hot parts cool and set it on disposable paper.
- Release the toner from the drum carrier, then refit it until the locking lever catches. The printer needs both parts; toner alone is not the whole assembly.
- Reinstall the assembly fully. On a colour printer, match its slot and colour label. Close the cover and check the message.
If a new cartridge still is not detected, contact us with the printer model, cartridge code, order number and exact error. We can check the supplied part before you buy another. Do not alter a chip or force a cartridge into place.
