Before you install a new ink cartridge
Prepare the cartridge carefully and follow the replacement procedure for its design.
1 min readInk cartridges do not all open or latch in the same way. Read the instructions supplied with the cartridge and the replacement section of your printer’s manual before removing the old one.
A good installation routine
- Confirm the model, part number and colour. Prepare the replacement before taking out the old cartridge.
- Use the printer’s replacement procedure to open the access area. Wait until the carriage is still; never pull it into position by hand.
- Remove the marked shipping tape, film or cap as instructed. Do not peel unrelated labels, puncture a seal or squeeze an ink tank.
- Hold the cartridge by its plastic body. Keep fingers away from electrical contacts, nozzles and the open ink outlet.
- Match the slot label, seat the cartridge fully, and close the access cover. Let any automatic cleaning or alignment finish.
