Canon PIXMA TS6160: install PGI-680/CLI-681 tanks
Use the tank number for your region and match every tank to its labelled slot.
2 min readThese steps cover the TS6100-series models named below. This printer uses individual tanks, including a pigment-black tank and a separate dye-black tank. Match the tank number and slot label rather than choosing by colour alone.
Change one tank at a time
- Turn the printer on and open the scanning unit/cover. Wait for the holder to stop in its replacement position; do not move it by hand.
- Press the empty tank’s tab and lift it out. Prepare the replacement according to its supplied tape, vent and cap instructions.
- Do not squeeze the tank or touch its outlet. Insert its front end at an angle into the slot with the matching label.
- Press the top until it clicks firmly into place. All required tanks must remain installed.
- Lower the cover gently and let the automatic cleaning finish before printing.
If a new tank is recognised but a colour is missing, print a nozzle-check pattern before cleaning. Use the separate print-quality guide to avoid unnecessary cleaning cycles.
