Samsung M2835 / M2875 / M2885: replace the separate imaging drum
Understand MLT-R116 versus MLT-D116L and fit the new imaging unit.
1 min readOn the Samsung M2835, M2875 and M2885 models covered here, the black toner and imaging drum are separate supplies. MLT-D116L is toner; MLT-R116 is the imaging unit. Replacing toner alone does not replace a worn drum.
Replace the imaging unit
- Finish any printing, switch off and let the printer cool. Open the front cover and remove the toner cartridge by its handle.
- Remove the old imaging unit using its handle or front grip. Keep fingers off its drum surface.
- Unpack the correct new imaging unit and remove its protective packaging. Avoid sharp tools and direct light; cover it with paper if it must wait outside the printer.
- Insert the new imaging unit fully, refit the toner and close the front cover. Turn the printer on and check the status message.
